Puerto Rico Travel and Tourism Update

Due to COVID-19, all parts of the world have adjusted policies for visitors and tourism to control the spread of the virus in airports, hotels, and other public places.

Even though a full door open strategy was announced for summer tourism beginning on July 15, 2020, additional controls had to be implemented. By July 20, the exponential growth of contagion caused the Government to suspend aggressive promotion efforts.

Puerto Rico is now encouraging only essential travel. The DMO has postponed its official inbound tourism reopening in order to safeguard visitors and residents.

A continuous assessment of the situation in Puerto Rico and in the United States will influence Island-wide orders that prioritize health and safety.

Open Places / COVID Safe Places

Puerto Rico’s eternal summer weather allows a number of open-air and natural activities that can be enjoyed in a perfectly safe way by the whole family. Places To Go recommends a list of activities that can be pursued while keeping safe from COVID-19 contagions, such as:

  • Beaches
  • Mountain
  • Parks
  • Lakes
  • Mangroves
  • Scenic Roads
