If you’re looking for a place where “everybody knows your name” Fumbi’s Sport Bar is just what you’re looking for. They’ll literally make you feel like family the minute you walk in. On your second visit they will probably even know your “usual”. The family or familiar environment doesn’t come about by chance. Modesto, the owner has made sure to keep it homey by having members of his family always present at any of his two locations. The origin of the unique name will leave very little doubt about the family feeling that prevails in the locale. It’s a pet name he shares only with his granddaughter.

Your go-to bar in Isla Verde
The Isla Verde bar and grill is smack dab in the middle of the strip right in front of the two Marbella condominiums. The first location is in Villa Prades in San Juan. Both feature a really fun environment with plenty of tv screens showing all major sporting events, pool tables and even some video games of chance. Villa Prades offers off track horse betting along with additional spaces for groups to celebrate activities from birthdays, company meetings or just a get together for a club.

All day breakfast
If you’re staying in Isla Verde Fumbi’s will quickly become your go-to place for breakfast all the way to the final nightcap. They open at 7am with some wholesome breakfast option such as waffles with fresh fruit, scrambled with bacon and cheese and even golden chicken waffles. The prices can’t be beat either. They have a couple of savory options for under $8, probably some of the lowest prices on the strip. Hey, and for you late risers breakfast is available all day.
Take it to go
If you’re headed to the beach for the rest of the day you can plan ahead and order any of the many sandwiches available to go. They also offer a full delivery service to the surrounding area of Isla Verde.

Dinner is served
When evening rolls around and the hunger of having had a great day on vacay starts to make its presence known, it’s time for some serious dinner thoughts. Here’s where Fumbi’s shines. Meat lovers will be very pleased with the offerings. Modesto has made special arrangements with his suppliers to have special, larger cuts delivered daily to his restaurants. One of the stars of his menu is called Emma’s porterhouse, a full 32oz cut that comes with four sides. You can even split this one 4 ways if you like. There’s also 20oz Angus rib eyes and huge chuletas can-can or deep fried, skin on pork chops (think crackling skin).
Seafood is another popular option along with mofongo or mashed plantains filled with your choice of shrimp, skirt steak, chicken, octopus and more. Pizzas are also available including gluten free cauliflower crust options. A double meat burger with bacon and all the fixings is another great option.
Great place to stay
If you’re planning a vacation or a visit to Isla Verde be sure to check out the airbnb rooms that Modesto has available on the second floor of the building. These recently remodeled apartments are conveniently located across the street from the beach and best of all you can order room service direct from the restaurant below. Here’s a link so you can check them out.
All in all Fumbis is a solid, friendly choice to relax and have a good time surrounded by smiles and good food. As a bonus the Villa Prades location has live bands a couple of days a week. Check out their social media for a schedule.
