San Sebastian Festival 2026 has officially begun with the 5:30pm procession from one end of the street all the way to the San José Church at the other end. This procession features groups representing different festivals from all over the island. Some of them include the Santiago Apóstol Festival from Loíza, The Carnaval de Ponce all decked out on their folkloric costumes.
More than 15 bearers carried The San Sebastián statue at the head of the procession followed by traditional folkloric personalities. The clergy was also at the beginning to represent the religious origin of the festival.
Different marching bands, costumed stilt walkers and more created a carnivalesque atmosphere much to the enjoyment of locals and visitors from all over the world. The feeling is always of a huge block party with revelers taking selfies with participants and even marching along in between the groups.
