This Memorial Day weekend promises to be an active one on the water with many aquatic event taking place all over the Island. They range from sailing championships to shoreside music fests catered to boaters and bathers.
Pan Pepín Regatta- San Juan
First up is a Memorial Day weekend long sailing championship in San Juan. The Pan Pepín Regatta will take place from the 23rd to the 26th. Almost 70 dinghies will be participating including Optimists, ILCA’s, Sunfish and 29ers. There will be two main course areas. One will be close to the hosting yacht club, the Club Naútico. The younger Optimist sailors are scheduled to compete in this one. The other course could be in two different locations, depending on conditions. One possible area is right of El Morro and the other alternate location is across the bay in Cataño. The majority of the boats will be competing on this course. Around Culebra Regatta- Culebra
The other sailing event is the Vuelta a Culebra or the race around Culebra island on Memorial Day Weekend. This informal rally/race is part social event, part racing. The actual rally will be held on Sunday the 25th after an afternoon raft up on Saturday. After the race, a celebration and dinner will be held. De Isla Grande a Isla Nena Music Fest- Vieques
If having a good time listening to live music, enjoying some adult beverages while floating in the refreshing waters of the Caribbean sounds like fun, you should make your way to Vieques this Memorial Weekend. SunBay Beach will host the Isla Grande a Isla Nena event. This two day, free festival will feature a beachside stage set up facing the ocean where a couple dozen of boats will be rafted together. Food and beverage kiosks will be set up and a could of hundred of people will enjoy the activities on this Island Paradise.
