Puerto Rico has always been a very musical island. Bad Bunny, Rick Martin, Ismael Rivera are just the tip of the iceberg to all the musical talent you can experience here. Take a drive up into the mountains on a weekend and any self respecting chinchorro bar will have the volume cranked up and a small group playing everything form salsa to merengue and trio music.
If you want to experience some great musicians, we have three of the top monthly, outdoor, no cost (some ask for donations) concerts to get a sample of the jazz, pop and fusion artists in San Juan and Ponce.

These open-air free concerts feature three different groups or artists each night. Lively jazz, percussion and latin music usually fill the bill. At Ponce you can combine the music with some bar hopping close by. In Condado, bring a blanket or a beach chair to sit on the ground. There’s refreshments to be had as well as food vendors. Get there early to secure your place as it has become a rather popular destination.

Noches de Jazz en La Goyco
Last Saturday of the month- San Juan 6:30pm, La Goyco, Loíza Street, Santurce
La Goyco is a 1900’s public school turned community center on Loíza Street. The last Saturday of every month they offer an outdoor concert with unique musical proposals and jazz-latin fusion artists. The indoor patio is the venue so just walk right in and make your way to the back. La Goyco is an interesting cultural space full of artists and community projects. It’s also home to La Casa de la Plena Tito Matos. This space is dedicated to documenting and teaching this Puerto Rican musical tradition. Check out La Goyco’s social media pages for more info on the month’s artist, and other offerings. You’ll be surprised! Admission is free but donations are surely welcome.

Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico (MAP)- Santurce
The sculpture garden behind the Puerto Rico Art Museum in Santurce hosts this monthly Thursday outdoor concert with a varied line up of local artists that can range from pop to jazz, latin and more. People arrive early with their chairs, blankets and coolers and set up their picnic to enjoy the night with neighbors, visitors and more. Admission is free but a $10 donation is suggested.
