The holiday season in Puerto Rico has officially started and there’s plenty of great Christmas celebrations going on in Old San Juan.
The Sounds of Puerto Rico Christmas Edition
Two days of musical concerts Dec. 13th-14th will be held in front of Pier 6 close to the cruise ships in Old San Juan. This family event will feature a whole range of Puerto Rican and Latin musical genres. In one day you can experience traditional sounds to salsa and more modern reggaeton beats.

On Saturday Plenéalo, with lively plena music, the world famous Gran Combo de Puerto Rico salsa band, Joseph Fonseca and merengue star Olga Tañon will be on stage to delight their many fans. Farruko an urban latin musician will be the headline of the night.
On Sunday the ever popular José Nogueras will bring his Christmas favorites along with the very popular Spanish-style choral group Tuna Segreles. Giselle and Manny Manuel two merengue star will also be on display. The closing act will be the salsa legend Victor Manuelle.
Along with the musical acts you will find plenty of great Puerto Rican food and drink being served along with 250+ artisans and other activities.
Getting there…
There are official parking areas designated throughout Old San Juan for the event. A lot of people are expected to visit the old city. The best way to assure a stress free arrival is to use public transport such as the buses that have a special dedicated access road, Uber or a Taxi.

San Juan Christmas Boat Parade Dec. 13
The Club Naútico de San Juan will hold their 17th annual Christmas Boat Parade in San Juan Bay starting at 6:00pm. A couple dozen sportfishing boats and sailboats will be decked out with all sorts of Christmas lights and decorations. They will parade travel up and down the bay just east of the cruise ship piers. The best viewing spot is at the Bahía Urban pier. Entrance is free.

Puerto Rico Institute of Culture’s Artisan Christmas Market Dec. 13
The best artisans in Puerto Rico will be offering their work for sale at the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture in Old San Juan. This event, close to the El Morro Fort, brings together will also feature special exhibits and recognitions for female Santos artisans and the craft of Mundillo or delicate bobbin lace.
