Every once in a while you encounter a restaurant where you feel and know everything just clicks and is in sync. The flavors are there, the presentation is on point and what’s most important for the experience, the service is done and received with a shared smile. When that happens you feel peace, satisfaction and even gratefulness, as if you’re family. Jibaro’s Borinquen Restaurant in the Kioskos de Luquillo is that type of place. It’s the result of careful attention to the details.
Cooked with love
For Rafael, the owner, ingredients are an investment in satisfaction not an expense to be cut. The kitchen staff cooks with pride in their work and it’s readily apparent on your first bite. The service staff excels and enjoys what they are doing. Together these things make Jibaro’s Borinquen Restaurant a delight.

As Open Table puts it: Experience the true “sazón” (flavor) and heartfelt “cariño boricua” (Puerto Rican warmth) at Jíbaro’s Borinquen Restaurant, a local gem located at Kiosko #22 in the famous Kioskos de Luquillo. Dining here is like stepping into a warm, family kitchen in the Puerto Rican mountains, but with the added bonus of a stunning beachside view from their second-story covered terrace.

Beachside dining at its best
The food choices here are definitely Puerto Rican criollo classics with a touch of sophistication and the correct handling of ingredients. Their Asopao de Mariscos is a thick rice stew brimming with a mix of seafood. The latest and very popular addition to the menu, the Jíbaro’s Sandwich, is filled with skirt steak, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and instead of bread, it’s all placed between two large, fried plantain slices. This unique Jibaro sandwich is also available with pernil or shredded pork Puerto Rican style.

Fresh local seafood
As one of the kioskos in Luquillo, their seafood is of course one of their stars. Their whole snapper, mahi-mahi, grouper and live lobster (they have a tank so you can choose your own) is sourced from local fishermen. You can’t get much fresher tasting seafood than that. The crown jewel is a snapper or even or a lobster stuffed with seafood. Try their excellent Mofongo or smashed, garlicky plantains stuffed with seafood, churrasco, chicken, even pernil.

A great way to take a dip and dine
The view from Jibaro’s Borinquen Restaurant is just as delicious as their food. If you’re tempted by the clear waters have no fear. Many people order their food and go to the beach for a while. The staff will then send a text when your order is ready. That’s a great way to make the most of your day.

For the thirsty…
For refreshments Jibaro’s bartenders offer a great selection of Mojitos using fresh local juices such as passion fruit, tamarind and even coconut. Their piña coladas are also raved about because they use the original 1963 recipe that doesn’t skimp on the coconut cream. They serve it dramatically in a whole pineapple adorned with fruit wedges and whipped cream.

Two different salons, great for groups
Jibaro’s Restaurant has two different salons. The main floor and a delightful, breezy second story outdoor, covered terrace. From this wheelchair accessible balcony you get a great view of the beach, palm trees and spectacular sunsets.
