Sailing in Puerto Rico
There’s nothing that screams Island life more than sailing on the crystal clear waters of Puerto Rico. The wind, the waves and a dolphin can create the perfect tropical experience. Cap it off with some snorkeling, a couple of refreshing concoctions and paradise gets a lot closer.
We’ve put together a couple of great options for your sailing in Puerto Rico experience. Some are in the metro area but most are based on the East coast marinas. Those are within an hour of small offshore islands. You can select a two hour beach catamaran rental, a snorkeling daysail or a 7 day offshore island charter. We’ll start small and work our way up.
Escuela de Vela de Carolina– Located in the Balneario de Carolina and run by a 5-time Olympian sailor. Here you can learn to sail or even rent a small beach catamaran or sailboard by the hour and cruise the protected bay. Contact 787-220-8750.
Sail San Juan Bay– Take a sail on San Juan Bay and experience the historic forts and the port from a sailors point of view. An easy sail in the protected waters for small groups of 6. Sunset tours are the best. Contact 787-667-7778.
East Island, Puerto del Rey – This company is chock full of options for all budgets and time frames. They offer twice daily, 6 hour group catamaran sailing/snorkeling trips with lunch and punch included. Another option is private catamaran rentals for up to 19 people or arrange one-day 6 person all day sailing adventures where you get to choose your route. They even offer transportation from the metro area. Book through eastislandpr.com
Bellaventuras, Puerto del Rey – luxury private catamaran daysails. For a more private, exclusive experience book this 43 foot catamaran for up to 6 people. There are three different food and drink options available. Look online at bellaventuras.com
